Everest Fake Rescue Scam
It seems that the foreign media wallahs have decided to make it a big issue regarding the fake rescue scam at Everest. If you go online, every foreign media outlet in the world is talking about how our guides have poisoned trekkers and climbers to engage in insurance fraud in collaboration with helicopter companies and travel agencies.
According to my sources, this thing has been going on for decades, but the scamsters managed to bribe the Civil Aviation people and other folks in the government to close the files, and we have to thank those in power then for allowing such scams to continue.
The whole world now thinks we are busy scamming trekkers and climbers in the Everest region. The reality is that some of the trekkers and climbers were in the scam as well as they wanted a quick trip out of Everest instead of a few-day trek and catching a flight from Lukla. But the foreign media makes it look like most of our guides poisoned the climbers to take them back to the hospitals in the capital to make some extra dinero from foreign insurance companies.
We hope the new government will investigate this scam thoroughly and punish the culprits but at the same time, come out with a press release to counter the negative press regarding this issue.
If we do the math, we really don't make much in terms of Dollars from the climbers and trekkers who visit the Everest region. I do think the only way to control the traffic up there during climbing season and minimize the garbage dumped is to increase the climbing fees to at least a million Dollars per climber for foreign citizens. Then, you won't see a massive traffic jam up there where hundreds of climbers are in queue for hours to take their selfie on the top of the world.
In the past few decades, we have seen everyone climbing Everest thanks to our guides, mostly the Sherpas. Many of us who do not have any climbing expriences have been ferried up there by our Sherpas. And the reality is that when it comes to most of the foreign climbers, the foreign travel agencies pocket most of the revenue while our Sherpas are paid peanuts and our travel agencies make maybe 10% of the total package offered to foreign climbers.
We have our mafia byaparis everywhere, and there is a big syndicate in our tourism sector as well. We have a bunch of guys running this scam for decades. The foreign press says the scam led to losses of around US$ 20 million for foreign insurance companies. And these insurance companies will either jack up their premiums or make it very difficult to release the payment even for legitimate rescue stuff in the future.
Nepal Police has investigated this scam years ago and have most of the evidence but those in power, especially our three stooges, Oli, Prachanda and Deuba, have played their part to not allow the law enforcement folks to go after the guilty ones. We will be hearing about lots of scams and how these three stooges and their cronies made tons of dough by not allowing the police to arrest those involved.
If we had only allowed our Nepal Police to arrest and take action against such con artists, then we would not be made to look like we are ugly scamsters by our foreign media wallahs. Let us hope, our tourism entreprenuers and even guides and our government will do their best in the coming days to overcome the shame it has brought us and work hard to provide better services and not fake services to our foreign toursits in the future.
